Why I Prefer To Use Sanding Sealer on All of My Professional Projects

Sanding sealer is a wood working sealer that is used to improve the finish of your sanded projects! Thats all it is. However, a good number of persons don't use this sealer, or don't know why they should use it.  The benefits far outweigh the time required to complete the same project without it.

A lot of people like to sand their project using another sealer, many times a lacquer. The problem with these lacquers is that they cause corning. This increases the likelihood that one of these "balls"  (called corning) of finish that are hanging on the sand paper can be damaging to the project creating scratches, blemishes, swirls, or an imperfect finish.

As you start to sand with sanding sealer, you will notice that the fibers gather very fast because the sealer makes sanding so easy. This is even more true  when using stearated sand paper which utilizes a material that makes sanding quicker. After completing the sanding process, you will need to brush off all of the dust before putting on you lacquer finish. Lacquer will dissolve into the previous coat applied, so if you have a bit of particles on your wood, you will likely still be okay  but do as much as you can to get a lot of it off.

The beauty of using sanding sealer on a wood piece like this is, after you apply your first coat of lacquer, often times you wont need to sand the project  again before using another coat. If you notice that you still have fibers you are trying to get rid off, a light sand would take care of it, but many times, you can simply apply the last coat of lacquer.
